What type of Anesthesia are available?

All patients receive local anesthesia. Patients can be prescribed Pain medication or Valium to take prior to the procedure. Nitrous Oxide(laughing gas) can also be offered for an extra $100 charge. Finally, Dr. Modh does work at hospitals and surgery centers where the procedure can be performed under general anesthesia.

Can I drive myself?

If you choose to use local anesthesia or Nitrous Oxide you may drive yourself.

Can I eat the day of my vasectomy?

Yes, eat according to your usual schedule unless you are having the procedure at a hospital or surgery center with general anesthesia.

Is a vasectomy reversible?

A vasectomy can be reserved but it can be costly and success rates are not 100%. If you are worried about reversal a vasectomy may not be right for you!

Does it work right away?

No you must continue to use contraception until you have completed a semen analysis test that shows no sperm. We recommend waiting 3-4 months and ejaculating 25 times prior to testing.

Can my wife watch?

We typically prefer partners to stay in the waiting room. We do not want observers to pass out.

Can I record my procedure?

We do not allow camera or video recording of the procedure.

When can I have sex?

We recommend waiting 5 days and until the pain has resolved prior to resuming intercourse.

When can I go back to work?

Typical 1-2 days off of work is adequate. For jobs that require heavy lifting or physical exercise up to a week of limitation may be needed.

Do I really need frozen peas?

Ice packs, frozen vegetable,s and Anti-inflamatories(Advil/Motrin/alleve) are very useful in helping prevent pain in the first 24 hours but are not needed for all patients.
